International Midwives Day 2020 #IDM2020

Evenlode Films and Productions were hugely proud to produce a private film and animation which we projected spectacularly onto the Tower Block at Gloucestershire Hospitals in celebration of International Midwives Day.

“The International Day of the Midwife 2020 has never been more special and I’d like to thank each and every one of the Midwifery team for all the work that they do.”

Professor Steve Hams, Director of Quality and Chief Nurse said: “We are delighted to be celebrating International Day of the Midwife in such an innovative way this year. We would like to thank Evenlode Films and Productions, a Cheltenham-based production company for their generosity and the hospital charity for making this possible. It’s something that we’ve never done before and we’re all looking forward to the display.” Quote: Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The 7 minute film was projected onto 7 stories of the tower block building built in the 1970's. Whilst it perhaps wasn't the prettiest of the Hospital sites, it was the perfect canvas for Evenlode to sketch out the world of the midwife.

We were honoured to have been joined by the Chief Midwife and Divisional Director of Quality and Nursing, Vivien Mortimore. If you keep watching the video below, you will also see a virtual visit by the Chief Midwifery Officer for England, Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, who was transported to Gloucester via a giant iPhone. Take a look.

Please see the legacy video and the full show, which went out on Facebook at so far has had 117k views, 3k likes and 2.5k shares and ....comments - all positive. I think that the midwives day in Gloucestershire certainly made a fabulous impact, which is all the more needed in the current times.

If you'd like to find out a little more about GHFT, we'd recommend that you read the news article published on the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Website:

What was exciting on the day is that we even had ambulances drivers watching in awe during the private event and one patient wanted to pause before going into A&E to watch. During the projection, would you believe that a fox actually stood by the helipad watching the images. It was really incredible and we totally were blown away by the lovely team at the Hospital. Can't wait until next week, where we will be creating something again...pretty unique ... but this time for the International Nurses Day...watch this space...
